A bronze statue of the Venetian navigator John Cabot, who sailed from Bristol in 1497 and reached North America. It stands on cobbles beside the Arnolfini arts centre, beside the floating harbour, and is by the sculptor Stephen Joyce. Cabot is remembered here because the voyage began from Bristol, which is why the city honours him on the waterfront.
