Tom Hunter is a photographer and film-maker whose staged pictures often restage old master paintings with people from his own neighbourhood. He studied at the London College of Printing and took an MA at the Royal College of Art. His photograph Woman Reading a Possession Order, which echoes a Vermeer, won the Kobal Photographic Portrait Award in 1998, and his series Living in Hell and Other Stories was shown at the National Gallery in London. He is based in London. In 2019 he showed A Journey Home at Hastings Museum and Art Gallery, a series made with local taxi drivers in places across Hastings.
