Tom Hammick is a painter and printmaker who splits his time between the two, and he is especially known for large, dreamlike woodcuts. He read art history at the University of Manchester and then studied painting and printmaking at Camberwell College of Arts, with a spell at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. His woodcut series Lunar Voyage toured from 2017 to 2019, and he made woodcuts for Adam Nicolson’s book The Making of Poetry. He won the V&A Prize at the International Print Biennale in 2016, and he lives and works in London. He has strong Sussex links: he taught fine art and printmaking at the University of Brighton until 2019 and was Glyndebourne’s Associate Artist in 2021 and 2022.
