Sonia Boyce is a British artist from London who emerged in the 1980s as a leading figure of the Black British art movement. Her early pastel and collage works, such as Missionary Position II, explored race, gender and family. She later turned to collaborative video, sound and installation works built around performance and improvisation. Feeling Her Way, made with five Black women singers, won the Golden Lion at the Venice Biennale in 2022, the first for a British pavilion, and Tate holds several of her works.
