Sonia Barton paints still lifes of simple, often handmade objects in a muted palette, building layers with brushes, knives, rags and rollers and scraping them back. Worn surfaces from interiors and the coast are a strong influence. She took a BA in Fine Art at Staffordshire University and a postgraduate diploma in printmaking at the University of Brighton.
