Sharon James is a Swanage-based artist whose work combines visual art, film, writing and textiles to explore heritage and identity, with particular reference to African textiles. Her ongoing Blackground works are at the centre of The Past is Present at Lighthouse Poole, a show she curated with Development Education in Dorset, alongside new pieces, a film essay and a book. She is a member of the Boscombe Radicle Arts Collective.
