Sally Muir is a painter best known for her dog portraits, and she also paints people, landscapes and the odd bird. For many years she ran the knitwear company Muir and Osborne, writing knitting books such as Knit Your Own Dog with Joanna Osborne, before studying fine art as a mature student at Bath School of Art and Design and graduating with first class honours in 2003. Her daily dog paintings, first shared online, became the book A Dog a Day, which was followed by Old Dogs. She won the Planographic Prize in the Jacksons Art Prize in 2025, and her work has often been chosen for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. She lives in Bath.
