Paul Feiler was born in Frankfurt and came to England as a schoolboy in 1933, later studying at the Slade. He taught at the West of England College of Art in Bristol and first visited Cornwall in 1949, settling at Kerris near Penzance in 1960. His landscapes of the Cornish coast became more and more abstract, ending in luminous paintings of geometric shapes and layered light. He worked in Cornwall until his death in 2013.
