James McIntosh Patrick was a Scottish painter and etcher from Dundee who studied at Glasgow School of Art and spent most of his life in and around his home city. He first made his name with detailed etchings, then turned to painting the farmland, villages and hills of Angus in clear, carefully observed detail, in pictures such as Spring in Eskdale and The Three Sisters, Glencoe. He taught at Dundee School of Art for many years and was elected to the Royal Scottish Academy in 1957. The McManus gallery in Dundee holds a large collection of his work.
