Masakatsu Kondo is a Japanese painter who has lived and worked in London since the early 1990s. His landscapes of mountains, forests and seas render nature in a deliberately artificial way, working in the space between pairs of opposites such as natural and artificial. He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art, graduating in 1993, and won second prize at the John Moores Painting Prize in 1997.
