Martino Gamper is an Italian-born designer who lives and works in London. He was born in Merano, South Tyrol, in 1971. He became widely known for 100 Chairs in 100 Days, a project in which he made a new chair each day from salvaged and found furniture. It was shown in London in 2007, at the Milan Triennial in 2009 and at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco in 2010, and published as a book. Gamper called the chairs a kind of three-dimensional drawing, and his work often sets aside the old design ideals of harmony and symmetry.
