Maarten Baas is a Dutch furniture designer, born in 1978. He studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and lives in Utrecht. He is best known for his Real Time series of clocks, in which a person paints the time by hand and the display is continually renewed. His work often draws on his childhood and aims to balance technical skill with a child’s spontaneity. Jurgen Bey was an early mentor.
