Lawrence Lek is a multimedia artist, filmmaker and musician based in London. He was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1982 and is of Malaysian Chinese descent. He describes himself as a simulation artist and uses 3D rendering technology. His films include AIDOL, Geomancer and Sinofuturism, a video essay that helped popularise the term. He has also made open world video game simulations, and he collaborated with Kode9 on the audio-visual work Nøtel.
