John Galliano was born on 28 November 1960 and is a British fashion designer. He was creative director of his own label and of the French fashion houses Givenchy and Dior, and from 2014 to 2024 he was creative director of Maison Margiela in Paris. He has been named British Designer of the Year four times. In a 2004 BBC poll he was ranked the fifth most influential person in British culture. The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute planned a retrospective of his work for its spring 2027 exhibition.
