Jacopo Bellini was a Venetian painter, a pupil of Gentile da Fabriano, and one of the founders of the Renaissance style in Venice. He headed the family workshop in which Gentile and Giovanni Bellini trained, and Andrea Mantegna married his daughter. Few of his paintings survive, but his two great books of drawings, full of architecture, perspective studies and antique motifs, were treasured by later artists. One of them is in the British Museum and the other in the Louvre.
