Haroon Mirza is a British contemporary artist of Pakistani descent, born in 1977. He is best known for sculptural installations that generate audio compositions, in which electronic circuits, light, found furniture and recorded sound are wired together so that the objects themselves make the music. In 2011 he won the Silver Lion for the most promising young artist at the Venice Biennale. His work has been shown in galleries and museums in Britain and internationally, and often looks at the boundary between noise, music and the everyday environment.
