Glenn Brown is a British painter and sculptor, born in Hexham, Northumberland in 1966, who lives and works in London and Suffolk. He takes reproductions of paintings by other artists, from Rembrandt, Fragonard and Frank Auerbach to science-fiction illustrators, and remakes them with altered colour, proportion and scale, rendering thick, swirling brushwork as a perfectly flat, smooth surface. He was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2000 and was appointed CBE in 2019. In 2022 he opened his own museum, The Brown Collection, in Marylebone, London.
