Evelyn Taocheng Wang is a Chinese artist, born in Chengdu in 1981, who lives and works in the Netherlands. She trained in traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy and later studied in Germany and the Netherlands. Her paintings, videos, performances and writing mix classical Chinese brushwork with references to Western modernism, often reworking paintings by Agnes Martin, while reflecting on migration, gender and her own transgender identity. Her work maps how language, custom and culture shape who we are.
