Eduardo Paolozzi was a Scottish sculptor and printmaker, born in Leith to Italian parents, and one of the pioneers of Pop Art. His early scrapbook collages of magazine imagery, shown at the Independent Group in 1952, anticipated the movement, and he went on to make robotic bronze figures and bold screenprints. His public works include the mosaics at Tottenham Court Road station and the giant bronze Newton after Blake outside the British Library. The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art in Edinburgh holds a reconstruction of his studio and the colossal Vulcan.
