Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a Scottish architect, designer and watercolourist and the leading figure of the Glasgow Style. With his wife Margaret Macdonald he designed buildings, furniture and interiors with tall high-backed chairs, stylised roses and a mix of Scottish tradition and Art Nouveau. His best-known building is the Glasgow School of Art, and he also designed the Willow Tea Rooms and Hill House in Helensburgh. In later life he painted watercolours in the south of France. The Hunterian in Glasgow holds the reconstructed interiors of his home.
