Byron Mohammad Hamzah

Byron Mohammad Hamzah is a Malaysian artist and documentary photographer based in Nottingham. He works with family archives, photo-embroidery and collage, reflecting on heritage and LGBTQIA+ experience. Since 2023 he has taught art as a volunteer to stateless young people in Malaysia, who became co-authors of the images in his first solo show, The Flower & The Wall, at the University of Nottingham. He won third prize in the National Portrait Gallery’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize in 2025.
