Anthea Hamilton

Anthea Hamilton is a British artist, born in London in 1978. She studied at Leeds Metropolitan University, now Leeds Beckett University, and at the Royal College of Art. In 2016 she was one of four artists shortlisted for the Turner Prize. Her entry, Project for a Door (After Gaetano Pesce), drew on an early 1970s proposal by the Italian architect and presented a doorway shaped as a pair of large buttocks. She is known for strange and surreal works and for large installations, and her exhibitions have included Sorry I’m Late at Firstsite in Colchester.
