Amanda Ansell is an English painter, born in Sudbury, Suffolk, in 1976. She studied Fine Art at Norwich University of the Arts from 1995 to 1998, then at the Slade School of Fine Art in London until 2000. After seven years living in London she returned to Suffolk in 2006 to take up a residency at Firstsite in Colchester. That year her work was chosen for an exhibition at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, and she was nominated for Jerwood Contemporary Painters. Her abstract paintings use a limited palette and explore the relationship between the artist and nature.
